In the Days of McKinley by Margaret Leech

This thorough history of the latest years in the 19th century and the earliest years in the 20th century is a good biography of William McKinley. The author also gives excellent coverage to the Spanish-American wars in Cuba and the Philippines, from military, political and popular points of view.
