The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak

This riveting story takes place in WWII Germany. The author employs an interesting writing style and formatting of the novel. Of course the topic -- a righteous German couple who fosters a poor young girl who is fascinated with books, and the righteous commitment of the couple to eventually harbor a Jew named Max -- is another important work that reminds of the life and times of early WWII. Read this before it is released as a movie.
