The Forager's Harvest by Samuel Thayer
Written with a child-like passion, this book provides important identification markings, harvesting times, and preparation methods for dozens of wild edibles considered mere weeds to many. The author is clearly more familiar with plants of the midwest, but gives regional information and provides brief information about varieties that are more ubiquitous in North America. Lots of pictures show roots, stems, and leaves of the plants both in the natural state and prepared for cooking or snacking.
