Collection Management in the Electronic Age edited by Jennie S. Boyarski and Kate Hickey

This book includes complete collection development policies from eleven different community colleges; partial documents from seven other community colleges; the American Law Association’s “Library Bill of Rights”, “Freedom to Read”, & “Freedom to View” documents; and a survey revealing acquisition budgets, number of electronic titles, ILL (interlibrary loan) dependency and more. Although these policies were current in the early 90’s the strategies, philosophies, standards and criteria applied to selecting which items to purchase and discard remain relevant. (My recommendation is with the average reader in mind.)
