Spitn and Passion by Cristy C. Road

I was prepared to love this graphic novel since I am a fan of the genre; however, I found Road's work less than satisfying. To her credit, the illustrations are visceral and depict the awkwardness of the teenage years well, but her prose felt a bit heavy-handed, as if the reader needed the ideas to be hammered home instead of having the wherewithal to interpret her drawings.
